A sample costs a little more per unit than the production price and saves the whole order. This is how to run a sample round for bamboo chargers so the approval means something.
What to order
- One to ten pieces of the exact model, in the bamboo colour you intend to buy (natural or carbonised).
- At least one piece with your logo applied by the method you will use in production. A plain sample tells you nothing about engraving depth or UV colour.
- The packaging you intend to use, or a photo of it if the print run has not been made.
Ten checks
- Charging: test with the phones your recipients use. Check that an iPhone charges through its case and that an Android phone reaches the rated wattage with the supplied adapter.
- Alignment: move the phone 1 cm off centre; it should still charge or show a clear indicator.
- Heat: after 30 minutes the bamboo should be warm, not hot.
- Finish: run a fingernail along the edges; no raised grain, no sticky varnish.
- Logo: compare to the proof for size and position; check contrast in daylight and under office light.
- Cable and port: USB-C seats firmly, cable is the stated length.
- Indicator LED: visible but not bright enough to light a bedroom.
- Drop: a 60 cm drop onto carpet should leave no cracks.
- Packaging: box closes flat, insert holds the product, no plastic.
- Documents: the CE, FCC, RoHS reports match the model number on the sample.
Timing and cost
Samples ship in 5 to 10 days after payment. Sample cost is credited against the production order, so the sample round is effectively free once you proceed. Allow one week for courier time and one for evaluation before you confirm the deposit.
What to tell the factory after testing
Send photos of anything you want changed, the approved logo position, and the final quantity per colour. The production sample is then signed off and kept as the reference for final inspection.
