OEM and Private-Label Product Approval Checklist

OEM and Private-Label Product Approval Checklist

A clear approval process protects both the buyer and the manufacturer. Use this checklist before placing a mass-production order for wireless chargers, power banks, humidifiers, lamps, or other branded electronics.

1. Define the commercial brief

List the product model, intended market, estimated quantity, target date, branding method, packaging type, and shipping destination. State whether the project is a standard product with a logo, a packaging change, or a full ODM development. Minimum order quantity, sample cost, tooling, and lead time vary with the amount of customization.

2. Lock the technical specification

Confirm input and output ratings, charging protocols, battery capacity where applicable, ports, included cable, adapter requirements, materials, dimensions, weight, color, and supported devices. Do not approve from a marketing image alone. The specification sheet and physical sample should describe the same configuration.

3. Test a physical sample

Evaluate function, charging stability, heat, fit, finish, cable quality, indicator behavior, and compatibility with target devices. Natural bamboo grain and color vary, so record an acceptable range. Keep one approved sample as the reference for mass-production inspection.

4. Approve artwork at actual size

Supply vector logo files and confirm the exact location, dimensions, color, orientation, and method such as laser engraving or printing. Review a photograph and a physical branded sample. Small text and fine logo details may need adjustment for bamboo grain or the chosen print process.

5. Confirm compliance for the destination market

Specify the countries where the product will be sold and ask which reports apply to the exact model. Depending on the product and destination, buyers commonly review CE, FCC, RoHS, battery safety, MSDS, and UN38.3 documentation. A document for a different model or electrical configuration should not be treated as proof for the ordered product.

6. Approve packaging and labels

Check packaging dimensions, material, insert, manual language, barcode, recycling marks, importer details, warnings, country of origin, accessories, and master-carton marks. Confirm whether paper-led or FSC-certified packaging is required and document any limits on plastic components.

7. Set the quality plan

Agree on the approved sample, inspection level, functional tests, appearance criteria, packing checks, and process for handling defects. For battery products, confirm transport paperwork before booking freight. Arrange pre-shipment inspection early enough to correct issues without missing the delivery window.

8. Confirm order and logistics details

The final purchase order should match the approved specification, artwork, packaging, quantity, price, Incoterm, payment terms, production timing, and shipping marks. Record every approved change in writing.
