Most sustainable promotional tech, bamboo chargers included, is made in Guangdong. Buying direct from the factory rather than through a trading company saves 15 to 30 percent and gives you control over materials and documentation, but it requires a process. This is the one our distributor customers use.
1. Decide factory-direct or agent
Trading companies and sourcing agents bundle many factories and handle communication; they add margin and a layer between you and the QC. A factory that exports directly, with English-speaking sales and published terms, gives you the better price and the real certificates. Ask any supplier whether they own the production line and whether you can visit.
2. Verify the company
- Ask for the Chinese legal company name and business licence; check it matches the name on the test reports and the invoice.
- Look for the same name on Made-in-China, Alibaba or 1688, and on LinkedIn.
- Request a live video tour of the production floor.
3. Verify the eco claims
"Eco friendly" has no legal meaning. Ask specifically: is the bamboo FSC-sourced (see our FSC guide), what is the finish, is the packaging plastic-free, and what recycled content is in any plastic parts. A good factory answers each with a document or a photo.
4. Samples
Order logo samples before any deposit. Our sample testing checklist covers what to check.
5. Terms
- Payment: 30 percent deposit by T/T, balance against the inspection report before shipment. Letters of credit for larger orders.
- Incoterms: EXW for your own forwarder, FOB Shenzhen for sea, DDP if you want one landed price.
- Lead time in writing, with the holiday calendar taken into account.
6. Quality control
Ask for 100 percent function testing inline and an AQL 1.5 / 2.5 final inspection with a photo report. Third-party inspection (SGS, TUV, QIMA) costs a few hundred dollars and is worth it on a first order.
7. Documents before shipping
Commercial invoice, packing list, CE/FCC/RoHS reports, UN38.3 and MSDS for batteries, and the certificate of origin if your market needs it for duty.
